I posted my sister’s ‘06 WRX 5-speed on a local rallyx facebook group page, after weeks of procrastination. I do like driving this car, but it’s got issues, which I disclosed in my listing, and accounted for in my price.
Already (day 1) I have a few people interested from the rallyx group, which is what I was hoping for. Someone who knows that it’s not perfect, but who can probably work on it themselves. I really wish I could keep it for a winter beater, but there’s
just no room
no need for a
fifth
vehicle in my driveway. And I certainly don’t have time to give it the attention it really needs. I mean, I think it would take $2,000 at a shop to make it a $3,500 car. So... there’s where my pricing came from.
So what do you think, I’m asking $1,800 as-is. I must be in the ballpark because of the interest. I hope it goes to a good home, it needs love. After all, i
sn’t Love what makes
...
wait no that’s a t
urbo. A t
urbo makes you want a beater car even if it needs tons of work.

I have to admit, I’m a little bit physically sick looking at some of these pics. OK, all of them. Well, the rear door cards look ok! But for a DIY rally car it’s got great potential.
You just need the keywords SISTER and STRIPPER in the ad somewhere. :D

If the only issues it has are cosmetic it seems like a pretty good price.

First two pics: Wow nice car
All the rest: *throws up*

Even with a trashed interior and fender dent, that’s way more than $1800
in my neck of the
woods. I’m guessing there was a large dirty dog that lived inside of the car for several years?

$1800? You mean 1800 off of MSRP, because I thought these didn’t depreciate .

Those in dash 6 disc players were an interesting decision.

Or it’s been the latest victim of the Bears in Subaru’s trend

That’s like a $7k car with no mechanical issues.
I traded in a 2004 2.5NA Impreza with ~150k miles for $4k 2 years ago. Mechanically was 95% perfect though.

That would be $5k easy around here as-is

lol that’s only for the ones with at least 10 acronyms in the description, possibly the word “invested” and definitely “I know what I have”

Yeah I mean, interior, dent, airbag light (unknown issue) - also has outstanding airbag recall, DTC for the turbo wastegate solenoid (unknown reason), wheel spacers that don’t leave enough thread on the wheel bolts - probably to prevent rubbing of the 17x7 wheels, illegal window tint.

haha, nope just a salty dog. Blue heeler.

Seriously. I saw this car for the first time in over 2 years, it had been sitting (mostly in a garage, at least) for a year, and I was like, uhhhhhggghhh I’m driving this car 2 hours on the highway, in 95 degree heat?
But it’s fine to drive. Just don’t look around inside. Mind you this is AFTER I cleaned it for 45 minutes.
It needs a Svend.

hahahah that was my reaction when I saw it from far away... then up close. But it really does drive nicely. Go figure.

Nah, there’s a DTC for the wastegate solenoid that could be... lots of things. There’s an airbag light for... unknown reasons. I guess those are the big ones, but they could be expensive. Not passing inspection as-is can be a real chafe unless you can store it somewhere to work on it in the meantime. It’s not a candidate for someone needing an immediate DD. That drives the price down a lot.

Oh I don’t think I included it. https://nh.craigslist.org/cto/d/2006-subaru-wrx-5-speed-manual/6670723003.html
New Hampshire.

That’s what I though initially, but I looked at comps and while there are very few real comps (hardly any “stock” WRX examples and the ones that are mostly stock are like, MINT), and knowing it probably needs more than I can even see myself, I felt it was a good place to start. This car doesn’t owe her anything, she just wants it out of her life. And I don’t have time to mess with it beyond a basic cleaning and dealing with buyers. That’s plenty.

This car I’m sure needs more than I even know by looking at it. Neither of us has the time to deal, really, but I can at least handle meeting and talking to buyers for her.

This would sell the same day you posted it
for $6
k around here

I agree I may have undervalued it, but at the same time, it’s got some big unknowns. Leaving out a loonnngg story, we’ll just be happy to get some money and be rid of the car at this point.
